LedgerLeaf is a free accounting category generator — a drafting tool for building the category list behind a chart of accounts. Choose a business type and a category group, generate a numbered list, copy or download it. That's the whole product.
How it's built
The site is fully static: HTML, CSS, and one JavaScript file, using only system fonts. Category selection shuffles curated pools with the browser's crypto.getRandomValues(). No backend, no database, no accounts, no tracking — by design.
What it's not
LedgerLeaf is not accounting software, not a tax advisor, and not a substitute for a qualified accountant. The categories are common starting points drawn from widely used small-business account lists; your structure, jurisdiction, and tax situation deserve professional judgment. Why free
A blank chart of accounts shouldn't cost money or an email address to fill in. Static hosting costs almost nothing, so the tool is free with no upsell and no "pro" tier.
